A special treat for you this week–a new track from John Larsen, with a poem from local poet Chris Cottrell! The track, “Bound”, is from a six song collaborative session between the two artists; you can hear the rest of the tracks at John Larsen’s website.
This week we bring you a track from our latest signing, Grey Anne (formerly Per Se). Anne’s debut album, facts ‘n’ figurines, will be released by us on November 11th! More on Anne shortly (her band page and such should be up later this week), but for now enjoy “Adelaide”, the first single off the album…
This week we bring you a track from Patrick Porter’s most recent record, Die Wandaland, which we released a little bit ago. Porter, as reported before, has several albums worth of material recorded and mixed and is working on a new one, as well as working on a new novel, painting, and generally just being the busiest guy in Connecticut (where he is currently living, man changes locales more than a Chinese jet pilot). Look for him to be playing several shows in the Manhatten and Brooklyn areas in the coming months…
This week’s track is off of John Larsen’s label debut Kismet. Larsen, along with Laurel Kurtz and Vicki Lynn Wilson, will be shooting a stopmotion video project this weekend as part of the TBA festival (the press release is quoted below), so come by if you’re around and available and be a part of the, erm, art (I hate rhyming).
CALL FOR STAGE HANDS, EXTRAS, GRIPS AND FOLEY ASSISTANTS: This is an open call for volunteer assistance in the making of a stop motion animation movie at 1943 SE Sixth Aveue on Friday, September 12th from 10am to 8pm. (Shooting will take place in and around the Goodwill Super Store). Assistants will be assigned work on a first come basis and tasks will range from creating Foley and speaking dialogue to moving characters in the set and assisting in set/character creation. (Some assistants may be asked to get us coffee or lunch).
This project is part of the TBA festival and will have a screening and reception the following evening, Saturday September 13th, 9pm, at Nosh, 2030 SE 7th Ave Portland
The debut single off the upcoming Heligoats EP, “Been a Drill” marks the return of the song-a-week blog and the first track we’ve released from the Chicago project, fronted by Chris Otepka (former singer/songwriter of Troubled Hubble)! The EP, titled The End of All-Purpose, hits stores on October 28th.
